Some of the links in this post are affiliate links. If you sign up through one of them I may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. I only recommend tools I have paid for and used in my own business.
For a long time this business ran on three tools. ThriveCart took the payments, Flodesk sent the emails, and the website lived somewhere else again. On paper that is a good stack. Each one is better at its job than any all-in-one platform is.
What finally moved me was not a feature comparison. It was a bug.
Someone would buy, and the automation that was supposed to hand over the product and start the emails would silently not run. The connector between ThriveCart and my email tool had a step that looked for the customer by email address. It kept reporting success. It was not finding anybody.
I spent a long session chasing that, then started rebuilding the whole thing in a different connector, and stalled again on credentials. At some point I stopped and asked a better question. Not "how do I fix this sync", but "why am I syncing anything at all".
So I stopped fixing the glue and moved the checkout into the same platform as the emails and the pages. There is now nothing between them to break.
This is the real argument. An all-in-one platform is not better because it does more. It is better because there is no join. Every connector you run is a thing that can fail quietly and cost you a sale you never hear about.
A purchase tags the customer, starts the sequence and grants access, all inside one account. No connector, no webhook, no third tool reporting success while doing nothing.
When tags, emails, products and pages live together, a new rule is a two minute job. When it is a two minute job you build it. When it means opening a third tool and wiring a connector, you keep meaning to.
True, and the smallest of the three reasons. A tool that saves you thirty pounds a month and costs you a morning is not a saving.
Flodesk emails are prettier out of the box. Systeme's email builder is functional rather than beautiful and you have to bring the taste yourself. If people open your emails partly because they look gorgeous, that is a real cost, not a nitpick.
ThriveCart's checkout does more. Complex bumps, multi step upsell flows, detailed affiliate structures. If you are genuinely using those, you will feel the gap.
All-in-one means good at everything and best at nothing. For most service businesses that is a trade worth making, because the thing holding the business back is almost never the feature list.
Do not migrate because a comparison post told you to. Migrate when the joins between your tools are costing you more attention than the tools are saving you, and be honest that the migration itself is a week you will not get back.
For me it was worth it the first time a sale went through, the tag landed, the sequence started and I did not have to check anything.
